Introduction Galería Montecatini.cl has been developing a cultural project titled ART BEYOND BORDERS since the year 2000, which objectives are to position Chile overseas, culturally speaking, to promote contemporary Chilean painting, and to promote the work of the participating Chilean artists. We have realized art shows in renowned galleries and contemporary art museums in Central America, the Caribbean, the USA, and Asia. Each artist has a particular artistic proposal in the framework of a contemporary Latin American style, being faithful representatives of modern Chilean painting. Their experience is backed by multiple individual and collective art shows, both in Chile and abroad. The following artists are going to participate in a collective show at the Artseni gallery, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to be held in the month of November 2009: Carmen Gloria Machuca, Gina Intveen, Claudia Penrroz, Pilar Ríos M., Alejandro Arrepol, and Silvia Gleisner. All of the paintings are on canvas, using techniques such as acrylics, oil paint, and mixed media. This itinerant and permanent project will continue with art exhibits in the future and, on the eve of our Bicentenary, the artists are painting subjects related to Chilean identity, such as urban and rural landscapes and the modern day role of women.
