Galeria Patricia Ready is named after her Director, who is a professional restorer of works of art. Patricia Ready began her activities in art after having studied Art Theory at the Universidad Catolica de Chile, where she discovered the richness of contemporary art language. She has attended a number of seminars both in Chile and abroad, the main ones being "Politicas Culturales en Chile" (Cultural Policies in Chile), in 1992, and "Innovative Associations in the Arts", held in Columbus, Ohio, USA.|
The place where she first worked as a restorer became the Centro Cultural "Mulato Gil de Castro", there she established the Galeria Arte Actual. Later she moved with the Gallery to the Center of Extension of the Catholic University of Chile. Simultaneously, she opened a Gallery in La Dehesa which was also named after her. After 27 years of work, acquainted now with the profession of gallerist, and having observed during all these years the artists' need to exhibit their work, she created this new space as a contribution to the community, to art, and to cultural development, building a space for exhibitions, discussion, and eduction in art. The architectural project was planned with these objectives in mind, and was developed by the prestigious architects Luis Izquierdo, Antonia Lehman, Mauricio Leniz, and Mirene Elton. The building has a large Exhibition Gallery, 640 square meters large, and 5 meters high, and a smaller hall of 140 square meters for graphic art and photography. The Gallery also has an interesting shop, specialized in art works and books, a cafeteria, an Auditorium with a capacity for 100 people for music concerts, conferences, and video-art exhibitions. The building also has a spacious underground Parking. Galeria Patricia Ready is located in the Commune of Vitacura, in Santiago, in 2,500 square meters of land.
The Galeria has an open curatorial line, that is, its facilities are open to young artists as well as artists who have already conquered a place in national and international art, primarily Latin Americans. It, therefore, offers a space for experimentation, research of new materials, technology, conceptual art, photography, video-art, digital art, installation, performances, as well as the traditional genres of art such as painting and sculpture.
The Gallery has taken part in important events, mainly the Olympia", International Fair" held in London (1984), and on several occasions in the International Fair of Miami, USA (1992, 1993, 1994) among others. Patricia Ready was also Curator of the Chilean works of art sent to the Ibero-American Art Biennials held in Lima,Peru (1997/1998). She has also participated in the 11th Triennial Art of New Dehli in India, between the years 2004 and 2006. Another of her achievements is to have shown national art beyond our frontiers with the the itinerant exhibition "Arte Chileno Traspasando Fronteras". This show was organized jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, and the Cultural Corporation of Barnechea (COBA).
