Originally working in economy and active in art collecting, the couple Ivo and Franziska Kamm expanded with their gallery into the former premises of the Gallery Jamileh Weber in spring 2012. The showroom at Waldmannstrasse 6 is prominently situated in the heart of Zurich’s Old Town and in immediate proximity of the Kunsthaus Zürich and the Opera.
Carefully selected and internationally already established contemporary artists are confronted with young emerging artists. With the vital focus on South American contemporary art the Gallery Ivo Kamm parcially fills in the gap created by the move of the Daros Latinamerica Collection from Zurich to Rio. Another strong focus lies on Swiss art.
The generous halls of the gallery enable in a wonderful way to show two solo exhibitions at a time. This way Swiss and Latin American art can be confronted without being part of a group exhibition, allowing simultaneous insight into the culture and art of different continents. The solo and group exhibitions of the gallery raise a highly intellectual, cultural and didactic claim and are deliberately allowed to provoke and scandalise at times.
The Gallery Ivo Kamm attaches a great importance to international art fair activity, exhibition publications, artist talks as with lectures held by important personalities from the art and culture world as well as a close and inspiring exchange with customers and artists of different nationalities. |
