Ingrid Wildi Spanish in Motion II Edition: Family and Memory Documentary films from around the Hispanic World, organised by the Spanish Section of the LSE Language Centre 3rd December? 2008, 6.30-8.30pm D402, Clement House, London School of Economics-Aldwych WC2A 2AE, London After the screening there will be a Q/A session with Ingrid Wildi. Ingrid will present (¿Aquí vive la señora Eliana M.?, 68", 2003, Spanish with French subtitles). The work is literally the artist´s search for her mother, who abandoned the family when she was little. Since then, Ingrid lost all contact with her. In this video-essay, Ingrid interviews her mother, who is now a clairvoyant who helps the police in difficult cases. She also interviews her grandmother with whom she talks about the family´s history of migration, and also an anaesthetist uncle whose story becomes a metaphor of that part of Chile that would like to forget its past. Ingrid finds in the voice of others and her own montage of the images a way of finding her own voice and "to negotiate her own relationship with the world". ¿Aquí vive…? is a kind of road movie where the journey through time and space becomes also a spiritual journey. | |||
