|Thursday Review - Opening - 31 May, 6 P.m.|
|On May 31, in the Review Room of Vartai Gallery, Šarūnas Akelaitis will present his Bachelor's graduation work The Genesis of Dizziness (Svaigulio geneze.).0|
The artist calls his work video sculpture: a tree-like stand holds champagne glasses filled with milk and faces projected on the surface of the milk. The only things shining in darkness are these clearly dizzy characters and the glasses. Milk is the first drug in our lives that makes us feel full and sleepy. Meanwhile the wide, bowl-shaped glass was supposedly inspired by the shape of breasts of Queen Marie Antoinette or Marquise de Pompadour. Although it is but a legend about women who wished to perpetuate their bodies in a drinking vessel, it is perfectly suitable for the artist's project. The author too succumbs to the temptation to include himself in his work - the projections on the surface of the milk are his own portraits. The exhibition will be open May 31 to June 6.
