  Private Gallery

Pippy Houldsworth Pippy Houldsworth, established as Houldsworth in 1999, moved from London's West End to its current location in the Pall Mall Deposit, Notting Hill, two years ago. This move allowed us to focus on our artists' careers and off-site projects (which had become increasingly difficult to do effectively from a busy shop-front space). The gallery represents emerging and mid-career artists making work of serious critical interest, and is one of the leading contemporary art galleries in London promoting the work of innovative British and international artists.

The gallery has supported its artists throughout these years, retaining a strong belief in the quality of the work of its represented artists. The gallery works hard to promote its ideology, inviting discussion, debate and controversy, whilst collaborating with curators worldwide on public shows at major museums and institutions. The standard of the artists' works and the gallery programme remain consistently high, with major collections and museums regularly acquiring work

All the gallery artists are represented in important public and private collections. Venues at which gallery artists are exhibiting during 2008 include Tate Liverpool; the Wellcome Collection, London; the ICA, London; National Gallery Prague for Prague Triennale; De Oude Warande, Tilburg, courtesy Fundament Foundation; Triennale Zeitgenssischer Kunst Oberschwaben, Friedrichschafen, the Zeppelin Museum; the Bluecoat, Liverpool; Pilane, Sweden; Harris Museum & Art Gallery, Preston; the Contemporary Art Society, London; Turner Contemporary, Margate; The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead; the Biedermann Foundation, Villingen, Germany; Nassauischer Kunstverein, Weisbaden, Germany; Leeds Metropolitan Museum; Ueno Royal Museum, Tokyo; Wolverhampton Art Gallery; McColl Center for Visual Art, North Carolina; University of Southern California, Los Angeles; Kastrupgaard Museum, Copenhagen, Denmark; Aberdeen Art Gallery; Singapore Biennale; Academy of the Arts, Berlin; and Cornerhouse, Manchester to name a few.

Pippy Houldsworth is also publishing a number of artists' books over the forthcoming year. The first of these, the Royal Art Lodge Learned Helplessness, includes an interview with the artists by David Shrigley, and an essay by Morgan Falconer, and was published September 2008. Books for Rachel Goodyear, Kounosuke Kawakami and Laura Ford will follow in early 2009.
