Umtrieb - Galerie für aktuelle Kunst Umtrieb-Gallery for contemporary art, founded in december 2003 by Ulrich Horstmann, presents young positions in contemporary art. The focus is on installations, actions and artist books, often by using traditional techniques in a new way.

Umtrieb is interested in international exchange, so artists from many different countries are invited to set up exhibitions.

For most exhibitions an edition comes out, and twice a year the gallery publishes an artist book. Besides classical gallery exhibitions Umtrieb organizes various projects in public space.

Gallery Salzau Umtrieb at the cultural centre Salzau is a branch of Umtrieb and is located in the beautiful region of "Holsteinische Schweiz", northern Germany.
