Biography 
1963
Born in Neuilly-sur-Seine (FR)
lives and works in London und Brussels
Pierre Bismuth´s drawing, collages, musical compositions and videos reveal the complex thought processes which underlie our approach to "simple" tasks such as learning to play a musical score from memory or using a computerised thesaurus. Using a variety of devices to track and document the ways we work, he compiles an ongoing study of the frequently overlooked peculiarities of memory, comprehension and interpretation. An example of such a study is his 1996 video work Le Bruit du Son, in which a typist is required to describe the dialogue, action and atmosphere of Antonioni´s Profession Reporter without having seen the film beforehand.
2005
Pierre Bismuth, along with co-writers Charlie Kaufman and Michel Gondry, has been nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Original Screenplay category for his contribution to the film ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND, directed by Michel Gondry, and starring Jim Carey and Kate Winslet.
