As a promising exhibition start in 2008, Finnish photographer Ville Lenkkeri will hold his solo debut show at maerzgalerie. The show presents most recent works of the series »Civil Courage « and »From Our Time«.

»Civil Courage« shows fictional stories of people facing the unknown in their lives, which can be both mentally or physically. The pictures in the series »Civil Courage« are still, despite the acknowledged falsity of the situations, as close to documentary as photography can get.

»From Our Time« broaches the issue of man`s spectatorship in regard to past, present and, potentially, future events. The pictures show people looking at large, historic panorama paintings, which uphold illusions of past realities like nationally significant historic events.
