Although Abstract Expressionism has been the subject of many major exhibitions, the works on paper by these artists have rarely been subjected to an exhaustive analysis. This exhibition is designed to study and explore the drawings executed by artists connected to the Abstract Expressionist movement, analyzing their work on paper as an essential factor of the transformation of traditional figurative line into graphic abstract expression. The exhibition will, thus, be a unique opportunity to see more intimate works by some of the movement's key figures, including Franz Kline, Willem de Kooning, Sam Francis, Robert Motherwell, and Clyfford Still, through drawings, sketches, and graphic work that reflects and anticipates their subsequent development in painting.
