11-12-2005 OPENING RECEPTION MIRIAM VLAMING

Saturday, September 12th, 2005 from 11 am to 8 pm we will open the Miriam Vlaming exhibition "LIVING THE DREAM". In addition all galeries of the Spinnerei area will be opened of which some present new exhibitions as well.
The exhibtion will be shown until January 10th, 2006.

LIVING THE DREAM is what Miriam Vlaming not only appeals to her new paintings but also in particular to the beholder. Mostly it is figures in cultural-folkloric images that by means of a metaphoric bridge offer access into picturesque daydreams which coat the canvas multifaceted, at the same time hide parts of the scenario letting appear them volatile. Through intertwining layers of colour and glaze, the background gets a blurred depth effect that makes forgotten time and place while putting the painted persons dominantly into the foreground. Thus arises a questionable context between two intangible picture levels from which emerges a floating dream world.
This rhythmic change between a seeming identifiably reality on the one hand and a not to ignorable illusion on the other hand tries to confuse the reasonable beholder to let him immerse in a harmony of reason and sensuality. The aim of this visual journey is not to be a solution of a thinking game that offers any of the artists? political or social statements. It?s rather the beholder who on this journey into the visible and invisible sphere meets his own inner world.
