Hopkins Architects Im Wandel der Zeit [“Over the Course of Time”]
Hopkins Architects are pleased to announce the upcoming exhibit „Im Wandel der Zeit“ [“Over the Course of Time”] at the gallery dr. julius I ap in Berlin.
Highlighting 53 of Hopkins’ projects from 1976 onwards, the exhibition features a special section and video about the 2012 London Velodrome and also a unique collection of photographs and drawings from the practice‘s offices in London. Besides offering a retrospective of past and current work, the exhibition is designed to enhance awareness of the practice in Germany, where it has recently opened an office headed by Project Director Carolin Jakob.
Hopkins Architects have helped pioneer British architecture since their founding by Sir Michael Hopkins in 1976. Now led by six Senior Partners, the buildings the practice produces combine advanced design, craft and sustainable solutions with rigorous cost and programme control to deliver projects of the highest architectural integrity. In addition, Hopkins are noted masterplanners and urban designers and much of their work integrates with sensitive contextual locations. The firm’s designs have been widely acclaimed by both architects and the public alike and they have received many architectural awards and honours.
Besides such well-known projects as Schlumberger Cambridge Research Centre, The Mound Stand at Lord’s Cricket Ground and Glyndebourne Opera House in the UK, Hopkins Architects’ most recent work includes the iconic London 2012 Velodrome, Frick Chemistry Laboratory at Princeton University in the US and the UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre in London. They are currently designing a major new public hospital in La Spezia, Italy, an ultra-green headquarters for the WWF-UK and a large Civic Centre for the London Borough of Brent.
Following a very successful run in Munich and Frankfurt, the exhibit will open on Friday, 14th December. 2012 A special preview will be held at the gallery on Thursday, 13th December beginning at 19:00, when Senior Partner Michael Taylor will present a lecture on the firm’s work.
