Profile
The Pace Gallery opened in Boston, Massachusetts in 1960. Three years later, Arne Glimcher, the founder, moved it to New York City and over the next two decades, the gallery grew steadily as did its prestigious list of artists represented. By the early 1980īs Pace had secured a reputation as a major gallery in the world of Modern and Contemporary art.

With the growing variety and number of artists, the gallery expanded to accommodate new demands. In 1990 Pace opened a new exhibition space in SoHo at 142 Greene Street. Then in 1993, Pace merged its impressive stable of Modern and Contemporary artists with the internationally renowned Wildenstein & Co., home to the worldīs largest private inventory of impressionist works and old masters. The umbrella of PaceWildenstein also includes specialized galleries such as Pace/MacGill, the photography dealer; Pace Prints; and Pace Primitive & Master Prints.

PaceWildenstein continues to play a significant role in the international art market. The gallery has also been challenging the prerogative of major auction houses by dealing in the realm of estate consignment with the acquisitions of the Mark Goodson collection and the Berthe and Oscar Kolin collection. With nearly 100 employees, and a distinguished list of 35 of the most important artists of the 20th century, PaceWildenstein maintains an international influence on the art world and remains committed to providing its clients with the most professional secondary market experience possible.

PaceWildenstein opened a new gallery space located at 534 West 25th Street, New York in September 2001.
