ART Karlsruhe

Opening Ceremony

It really is an art fair „Made in Germany“, not only in terms of planning, organisation and realisation, but also in terms of gallery-presence (80% from Germany).

The fair takes place for the third time and - according to general opinion - gains more and more in dimension and quality. Exhibitors want to come back next time, and that means that they are selling well. The convenient proximity to collectors living in southern Germany, a well planned selection of art (large-sized or extremely expensive exhibits are rare) and a constant improvement in quality promise a continuing uptrend for the ART Karlsruhe.

Another highlight was the open panel discussion with Harald Falckenberg (Falckenberg Collection), Axel Hecht (editor of the ART) and Max Hollein (director: „Schirn Kunsthalle“, „Städelsches Kunstinstitut“ and „Liebig-Haus“); it revolved around different points of view regarding the development of the art market.

Statements from galleries:

„We are at Art Karlsruhe for the second time, and last year we achieved good results. The preview went well, and we have an option on the sale of Armin Göringer’s great sculpture. If we achieve this sale, we would already have achieved the results of last year. Art Karlsruhe has become a standard constituent of our fair-agenda.” Bernd Geserick

Galerie Rothamel Frankfurt / Erfurt:

„Art Karlsruhe has definitely superseded Art Frankfurt. We are here for the third time, and we sold very well from the beginning on. The preview alone went sensationally“ Dr. Jörg Rothamel

Galerie Henze & Ketterer:

„Here, it’s about creating a new kind of fair; hence the new subtitle “Classic Modern and Contemporary Art”. The mixture of Classic Modern and Contemporary Art is very well consolidated. Way to go!” Dr. Wolfgang Henze
