The ArtFacts.Net™ web service provides ranking lists on modern and contemporary artists.

ArtFacts.Net™'s artist rankings are based on the calculations of the ranking algorithm of one of the largest and global samples of art exhibitions in the world. This data service enables collectors, social scientists and other art professionals to add high-quality art market intelligence directly into their web sites and applications. This data can be used internally to make business decisions such as where to most effectively advertise, or externally, when prioritising aggregated information on a market. Whether you want to find out who are the top 10,000 artists in the world, or the top 10,000 in the U.S., the Artfats.Net Top Data web service allows you to gather this information on artists in over 100 countries.

An artist's ranking is based on a combined measure of the number and sphere of their exhibitions computed over a ten year period. Sphere is determined by the number of long term relations the artist has with an institution where he or she exhibits. Exhibitions are the total number of shows. However, exhibitions in well esteemed institutions are counted higher than those in less well known institutions. The artist with the highest combination of exhibition and sphere is ranked #1.
